He sukh de matlashi bande dukh val dha dha janda eyen; Poorab val toon jana chahein pachchham kadam vadhanda eyen. Tur tur ke toon chahein apna edan beeba pandh mukana; Manzal akhkhhon ohle kar ke gumrahan vich dhakke khana. Murshad bin manzal nahin milni evein na barbaad ho bande; Kahe avtar guru di charnin eh jeevan kar shaad o bande. |

O' man, though in quest of happiness, you are treading the path leading to suffering; You wish to go to the east, but are proceeding towards the west. O' dear fellow, you wish to cover the distance in this way (by moving in the opposite direction); And, you wish to suffer on unknown paths. O' man, don't ruin your life, you won't reach your divine destination without the True Master; Avtar says, seek the shelter of the True Master and make your life happy and prosperous. |
Meaning
O human, you are unable to find happiness because you are going in wrong direction. You wanted to go towards east, whereas you are moving towards west. Your life is limited by certain time and you are wasting time by moving in the wrong direction. Your destination is in the opposite direction. This is the reason you are suffering in life.
So seek the shelter of the True Master and make your life happy and prosperous as only He can guide you towards the correct direction of your destination.
